Steel fibre reinforced concrete slabs exposed to fire –
After several decades of research, the practical application of steel fibre reinforced concrete is no longer subject to a case-by-case approval but now follows the guideline “steel fibre reinforced concrete” [1] of the German Committee for Structural Concrete published in 2012. However, this document does not explicitly consider temperature dependent behaviour of steel fibres. Instead, the rules specified in DIN EN 1992-1-2 and its National Annex apply in case of fire, which is why the favourable influence of steel fibres on cross-sectional level may not be considered in fire design.
