fib symposium, Stockholm, June 2012
The 2012 fib Symposium will be held from 11 to 14 June in Stockholm, Sweden. The symposium is organized around the theme, “Concrete structures for a sustainable community”, which is particularly relevant to today’s global concerns. Concrete can play an important role in sustainability, as it is the most frequently used man-made construction material, and concrete structures can potentially achieve very long life spans.
Despite the already existing advantages of concrete, the concrete sector needs to make improvements in order to minimize its environmental footprint and further develop its sustainability. The 2012 Symposium will provide an excellent forum for engineers, researchers, designers and administrators to meet and to discuss these important issues. Some 170 papers will be presented orally and published in the symposium proceedings.
The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm will be the venue for the Symposium. Founded in 1827, KTH is Sweden‘s first polytechnic and accounts for one-third of Sweden’s technical research and engineering education capacity at the university level.
Registration has been opened in late December 2011. For more information, visit www.fibstockholm2012.se.
