Concrete admixtures, colors, surface-protection products, concrete test equipment and coating products at bauma

Over the centuries, concrete has become established in the construction industry as an extremely reliable and flexible material. Its versatile possibilities of application as well as its ability to ensure structural integrity makes it an indispensable construction material. Today, with the focus increasingly on sustainable building and climate protection, concrete is ever more moving into the center of intensive discussion. Reasons behind this development is particularly the cement, as significant component of concrete. Criticism focusses on cement because its production causes considerable emissions and because its considerable CO2 footprint is the major contributor to the high CO2 footprint of concrete – amounting to approx. 550 kg of CO2 per ton of concrete. Reductions in these environmental impacts are necessary to assure further use of the benefits of concrete.

There are a number of approaches available for reducing CO2 during concrete production, including the following:

Reduction of clinker content in cement

Utilization of alternative binders as well as addition of secondary raw materials in the mix, and of other fillers with low CO2 emission

Optimization of energy efficiency and/or the switch to CO2-low fuels and technologies such as carbon capture and storage/utilization as already practiced in cement production.

Omnicon at bauma

At bauma in Munich, the Omnicon Group will, from 7 to 13 April 2025, present a number of innovative solutions that contribute to CO2 saving and to the recyclability of concrete and, at the same time, enhance concrete quality. Based on a number of implemented projects, presentations will demonstrate how successful the various approaches so far have been – and how they have consistently taken into account the individual wishes of the customer.

In addition to concrete admixtures, colors and surface protection products – as well as concrete testing equipment from Qavertec GmbH – the Omnicon Group will also show coating products from the company CoaTIB. CoaTIB develops innovative, technologically sophisticated coating for roof and wall construction materials, fiber-cement coating for interiors and fire protection coatings.

Omnicon Group is looking forward to greeting many visitors at Stand 311 in Hall B1.
