How to fasten sandwich panels to concrete
Simple, fast, and economical: The MXC direct fastener from SFS meets these requirements. This new screw is used to fasten sandwich panels to concrete – without the usual steel rail embedded in concrete, which is no longer needed. The screw is also the perfect solution if the rail was inadvertently forgotten during design or production of the precast element.
Designing with MXC from SFS is extremely simple since the positioning of the screw is flexible during the subsequent installation process, which reduces potential sources of error and complexity. Since the steel rail is no longer required, there is no need for concrete to be poured during production of the precast element – another work step that could lead to inaccuracies.
MXC ensures a form-fit, expansion-free connection similar to that of an undercut anchor. This allows the direct fastener to be used near the concrete edge. A pre-drilled hole allows for bolt-through mounting.
Nor can weather conditions affect the sandwich-concrete structure: The standard version of the screw comes with a pre-mounted EPDM sealing washer, which centers itself automatically under the fastener head to provide a permanent rainproof seal. In addition, the relatively large flange diameter has a positive effect on the bearing capacity of the washer, thus improving the durability of the entire structure.
MXC was assessed in accordance with European standards (ETA-20/0115). Being the first of its kind, this direct fastener is a real game changer allowing for an innovative approach to design and installation. This is why the sandwich-concrete connector proves to be a reliable and economical solution for even the most demanding projects.
