Innovation: Green Code Eco Slab
Green Code is an innovative construction system for individually planned, sustainable concrete buildings that are planned entirely digitally. System components are industrially manufactured concrete elements activated by technical components: structural engineering, insulation, climate control, acoustics and lighting. The sustainable Green Code buildings are convincing, according to the supplier, owing to their surprisingly short construction times, very high cost efficiency and perfect climate for the users.
Green Code has now developed, in collaborating with the Progress Group, an innovative precast floor slab: the Green Code Eco Slab, which has been tested and validated jointly with an external structural engineering firm. Prominent certified structural engineers such as Prof. Hegger and Partner have independently tested and confirmed the structural engineering methods used here. The element can be simply designed based on the methods described in Eurocode 2 and has now been validated and already successfully applied in Germany, Austria and Italy.
The native Revit Data and IFC Models can be taken over and used by means of the BIM-Pro drawing software, and the Eco Slab directly planned with blockouts. The elements are accordingly planned true-to-detail and down to millimeter precision – which is also essential for automated production.
The Green Code construction system therefore offers with the Green Code Eco Slab a precast solution that offers significant advantages to architects, structural engineers and precasters: automated planning in a complete BIM environment, industrial and robot-controlled production in the plant and consequently less work on the construction site.
Significant savings in concrete, steel and consequently CO2
The innovative core element, the GC Eco Slab, saves not only steel, but concrete as well – resulting in significant reduction of slab weight. The 100 % recyclable polypropylene, of which the box is made, is a material that not only meets today’s requirements, but which can be completely recycled at the end of a building’s service life. Specific savings amount up to 25 % concrete, 15 % steel, 20 % CO2 and 25 % weight of the slab itself.
Precast floor slabs with GC Box are more than only a precast element, and convey the message of allowing reduction in the impact on the environment without having to compromise on structural performance. Despite drastically reduced construction time, GC Box supports up to 200 kg – i.e., 2 kN point load – which in turn further contributes to its sustainability. Greater unsupported spans are therefore now also feasible without restrictions.
