Review: Green Code Precast Days in Brixen
The international conference Green Code Precast Days was held on 26 to 27 September at the headquarters of Progress Group in Brixen, South Tyrol, Italy. The two-day event marked a significant milestone in the discussion of the future of building. It brought together more than 300 professionals from Europe and beyond to work out solutions for the challenges faced by the construction industry. Among the participants were Karla Knitter and Kristin Hanneforth of BFT International, who summarized their highlights in a video – which you can find on the BFT International YouTube channel.
Significant innovations and pioneering approaches in the construction industry
The event focused on innovative approaches and technologies for improving efficiency and sustainability in the construction industry. It also offered comprehensive insights into progressive methods and technologies that contribute to addressing the global housing shortage and, at the same time, to minimizing environmental impact.
Keynotes and technical lectures
The congress was opened with the high-caliber keynote address by Prof. Dr. Werner Sobek under the motto “How we build the future.” In his lecture, Prof. Dr. Sobek − an internationally recognized architect and expert for sustainable architecture – emphasized the urgency of rethinking traditional construction methods and of replacing them with innovative, environmentally friendly technologies. Prof. Dr. Sobek explained how a holistic view of resources and energy efficiency can lead to a paradigm shift in the construction industry.
In the further course of the congress, Ing. Piero Bernabé from PROGRESS AG and Bernhard Leitner of Green Code GmbH presented pioneering technologies and methods. Ing. Bernabé presented the latest developments in the area of precast construction elements, which not only reduce construction times but costs as well. Bernhard Leitner presented the Green Code construction system that impressed his audience with its modularity and conservation of resources.
In the following technical lectures, experts discussed the design of high-rise buildings in earthquake zones with innovative precast elements, the design of high-quality façade engineering as well as integration of technical functions such as acoustics. Current subsidy models for innovative building that support new technologies provided further insights.
Practical insights and tours
The event also offered the participants the opportunity to gain practical insights into modern building practices:
Tour of the Building System & Progress headquarters: The participants were given a detailed tour of the headquarters of Progress Group.
Tour of the precast plant: On a tour of the company’s own precast plant, the visitors had the opportunity to observe in action the ongoing production of innovative precast products.
Tour of construction sites: A guided tour of two different construction sites enabled the participants to understand the entire process from planning and production to the complete building.
Products & showroom: In the showroom of Progress AG, the latest innovations in floor, façade and wall systems were presented.
Discussions and networking
The event offered the participants an outstanding opportunity for exchange views in an informal setting. Accompanied by South Tyrolean cuisine, the guests were able to make valuable contacts and continue the discussions of the day in a relaxed atmosphere.
“The Green Code Precast Days have once again shown how important it is to think outside the box, to jointly work on solutions for the precast industry and to talk about the current challenges of the construction sector,” says Bernhard Leitner of Green Code.
