New drainage channel is at home on the urban scene

With BG-Filcoten one urban, the family BG-Graspointner of monolithically built drainage channels has a new member. It is especially designed for medium loads.

Maximum performance with minimum environmental impact is the objective of all Filcoten drainage systems – as it is for the new BG-Filcoten one urban. Like its big brother, the BG-Filcoten one (see BFT 6/2024, pp. 34-35), the newcomer is manufactured in one piece from the resource-preserving, high-performance concrete Filcoten HPC.

With its load class from A 15 to D 400, one urban extends its range of monolithic channels downwards. The reduced price and the lower load class makes the channel especially interesting for inner-city applications – ranging from the town hall square to the private garage entrance. This perfectly coordinated drainage system on offer consists of channel body, gully, inspection elements and much more.

Innovative trapezoidal design

The trapezoidal construction form is innovative. First, the design improves the structural engineering features of the channel body, and second, the broad channel foot provides the channel with stable support – beginning with installation. The enlarged base footing, in addition, improves the anchorage in the concrete in which it is placed. The design-related interval required for the joint sealing compound is already formed during installation at curbstones or at vertical surfaces. At the same time, the vertical installation of the upper channel wall provides ideal conditions for laying paving blocks.

In general, the trend is increasingly towards monolithic channels. Their closed form enables high stability and reduced material use. With monolithic channels, moreover, the elimination of steel, casting as well as plastic sheeting, further significantly improves the CO₂ balance in comparison to conventional channel systems. The monolithic channels made of BG-Filcoten accordingly stand for future-oriented further development of resource-preserving, environmentally compatible channel systems.
