fib Symposium Prague 2011
The next big event of the International Federation for Structural Concrete (fib) will be the symposium going to be held in June 8 to 10 2011 in Prague. Technicians and scientist submitted their papers until the 30th of June. Organizer of the symposium is the Czech Concrete Society (CBS).
Organizer and host the Czech Concrete Society (Ceska betonarska spolecnost – CBS) was founded in 1993 as a spontaneous association of engineers active in the field of concrete and concrete structures. 2000 the legal status of a non-profit civic society was assumed and professional management was established. Beside the organization the CBS serves simultaneously as Czech fib National Member Group.
In 2009 at the last fib symposium in London, the upcoming event was already being announced to a big audience under the headline of: Concrete Engineering for Excellence and Efficiency.
Major topics will be:
New Model Code – expected impacts and practice of use
Experiences with New Model Code clauses in the field of design, analysis and execution of concrete structures. Expected improvements and new areas of interest.
Concrete and construction technology – transfer of experience
Advanced types of concrete and reinforcing materials. Research results and their application in structural engineering. Progressive technologies of construction.
Modelling and design of outstanding and innovative structures
Numerical methods and their application in modelling and design procedures. Design of remarkable and non-traditional concrete structures in illustrative examples. Innovative structural systems.
Structures integrated into environment in a balanced way
Interaction of concrete structures and environment with respect to context. Sustainable structures. Structural concrete as a natural material suitable for structures being friendly to the environment.
Combination of structural concrete with other materials
Compsoite and hybrid concrete structures exhibiting favourable concrete properties in structural performance. Interaction of concrete with other materials – problems, analysis, structural arrangements, detailing.
Prague has already been host to the fib Symposium in 1999. Venue will be the Clarion Congress Hotel in Prague which endeavours to ensure the top comfort of its guests.
